Originally started as an extension of the VHS Stills visual art project on tumblr, it was created by “VHS Stills” aka R23X aka Marc Junker. Simply a way to translate CRT-based VHS glitch images into something you could wear. Resulting in unique clothing featuring nostalgic VHS, vaporwave, and abstract glitch motifs.
Everything is recorded on actual VHS tapes and created using a blend of contemporary and outmoded analog technology. No Filters.
The project started originally as a tumblr showcasing anachronistic VHS recordings of newer media (i.e. 4K UHD films, computer interfaces, and contemporary video games) recorded on VHS.
